Hawaii!!!

My incredibly sweet husband surprised me Wednesday night, April 28th, and told me he was taking me to Hawaii the next morning! I was SO surprised and SO, SO excited! I was off track and feeling kind of bummed because I didn't think we were going to be able to go anywhere. We've been so lucky because every single time I've been off track we've taken a little trips somewhere and thanks to my cute husband, we still hold that record! Boo Yah! So we hurried and packed then went to bed! On our way to the airport Thursday morning the weather was SUPER crappy! It was starting to snow and right before we got off the exit to the airport, we saw 5 wrecks all within about a mile! No kidding. 5! The crappy weather made me even MORE excited to be leaving for Hawaii!
*DAY 1*
Our flight left at 11 a.m. and we landed in Honolulu around 3 p.m. Hawaii time. We left about an hour later because our plane had to be de-iced! It's basically May! Once we landed we got our car rental and then found our hotel. It took us awhile because we forgot our GPS and didn't really have any directions or anything to go off of. Luckily we got a little map from our car rental place and got around OK with that. It was actually pretty fun not knowing where to go because we ran into some of Josh's favorite places from Japan! While we were looking for our hotel I told Josh that he had to choose where we eat dinner tonight and I would choose the next night. Lucky for him I noticed a place called Curry House, and me being the loving wife that I am told him about it (I don't love curry...). We pulled in and it turned out to be Curry House CoCo Ichibanya, Josh's FAVORITE place to eat in Japan! It was exactly the same so that was pretty exciting for him! After we ate, we were headed to our hotel when we saw a big Don Quijote sign. This was another one of Josh's favorite places to go because it just has a bunch of random stuff. Sadly, this Don Quijote wasn't like the ones in Japan but we did leave with a bunch of Japanese candy so that was a plus!
We eventually found our hotel, we stayed at the Prince Hotel on Waikiki Beach. It was pretty nice, our windows opened up and there was no screen so that was way cool because it was a really pretty view!
We take a zillion pictures, as you can see, and it takes me sooooooooo long to pick out the ones I want to use so I'm just going to post all of them to save me some time!
That pretty much sums up our first day there...
*DAY 2*
Friday morning, we checked out of our hotel and walked around Waikiki.

First we stopped by McDonald's so Josh could get some Spam and Eggs for breakfast. Sick.
He was really excited it came with rice.
I love all the beautiful flowers they have here! I wish I could have these all around my house!
While we were driving around the day before we saw a Volcom store and Josh HAD to check it out.
It wasn't that great since all their clothes and stuff was for surfers. He just got a shirt. I was surprised at how different it was from the one in Vegas and other places we've been to. I guess I should have figured it would be different though...
After some shopping we walked along Waikiki Beach. It was a really nice day and the beach was BEAUTIFUL!
On our way to the Volcom Store, we saw this little beach. It looked like a private beach because it was all isolated and really close to a hotel. It wasn't connected to the ocean if that makes sense... It's like a pond because there's sand separating it from the ocean.
As we were making our way back to our hotel we saw the little beach again close up. I just loved it! I thought it was so cool! I don't think it was a private beach because I don't see how it could be...
After walking around Waikiki, we headed to the top of the island to go to the Dole Plantation.
We got off to a rough start there because right off the bat we got tricked into buying an oyster and getting a pearl out of it. They said it was half off so, being the dummies that we are, thought, "why not, it'd be fun! It's only 7 bucks! Plus, we're on vacation! (we always say that :))"
So we get our pearl and are ready to peace out when she starts bugging us about getting a setting for it... Oh Geez! We both sit there awkwardly because it's almost impossible for either one of us to say no. I'm pretty good about trying to get out of things without saying the words "no thanks" but she wasn't having it... I tell the lady I don't really wear jewelry so she says, "How about for your mom!" I look at Josh to try and get him to help me but he sits there and says nothing. Great. She then pulls out 2 black pearls and says she'll trade me and I can make them into earrings. I almost wanted to do that because I really do like earrings so I asked her how much and the cheapest setting was 117 bucks! For just studs! Ha ha! I told her I wasn't going to pay that much and she starts going on about what a great deal that is and blah, blah, blah... She finally gets sick of us so when I tell her I'll just take the pearl for like the 10th time, she finally lets us pay and we ran quickly away from her. Later on in the day we went to WalMart and they had a pair of black pear earrings for under 4 bucks! Ha ha! I bought a couple pairs (which I can't even find!) and was very tempted to take them back to the lady and tell her how much they were! Anyway... We finally made it into the plantation and had lots of fun! My mom took my siblings and I there when I was 14 and it's so much bigger now! They added a train and at least doubled the size of the building. They had a food court where we got some pineapple sherbet and fresh pineapple, both of which were delicious!
I took a bunch of pictures of Josh eating. Ha ha! Here are a few. I thought it was funny... I especially all love the faces he made. What a good sport!
While we were eating our food, Josh saw a guy taking a picture of something on a tree. He got really excited and said, "I think that's a lizard!" Josh grabbed our camera and ran over to join him.
Here's where they grow all different types of pineapple. It's really cool! Josh was super surprised that pineapple grows out of the ground. He thought it grew from a tree!
I was having a sneeze attack and Josh, so lovingly, took pictures of it. Thanks babe!

Aren't the grounds so pretty?! I love how colorful everything is!
*Before we started feeding them*
Really? Who would get in that gross water with those disgusting fish?! The fish were so creepy looking, especially their mouths, that just had to feed them!
Those fish were insane! They went wild for those little pellets! It's like they'd never seen food before!
Their mouths seriously give me the creeps!
After the Dole Plantation, we went and met up with Josh's friend Mike. He was kinda enough to let us stay with him for the rest of our trip. We're currently watching Lost with our friends and absolutely LOVE it so they took us to where most of it's filmed! We were so excited! It was super cool to see it in real life and walk in the same sand as Sawyer... :)
*A creepy crab*
*An even creepier sand crab*
If you look really, really close you can see a sand crab at the very bottom, middle of the picture. Just below that U shaped brown thing. I really did not like these crabs scooting around everywhere. I keep thinking I was stepping on them and it freaked me out a bit. Still does actually.
We take lots of pictures... And we take even more pictures when we're excited about stuff!
Josh walked further down the beach and started hollering for us to come over to him. By the way he was yelling and how excited he was, I thought he saw a cast member from Lost! Hoping that it was Sawyer, we headed over to find 2 big sea turtles. To say that Josh was excited is a HUGE understatement!
There was a lady just chillin' on the beach and she said to Josh, "The turtles are starting to come out." And Josh goes, "Oh cool! Where?" And she's all, "Right there!" Josh started freaking out saying, "Those are turtles! They're HUGE! I thought they were rocks!" Ha ha! I love how excited he gets about things! He's like a little boy! :)
After the beach, Mike took us to some local burger place. Josh really liked it, I really liked our dessert after! I don't even know what they're called but it's ice cream covered in mochi... And that wraps up our second day in Hawaii!
*DAY 3*
Saturday we woke up and headed to the other side of the island. We went and ate at Hukilau Cafe, the restaurant from 50 First Dates! It's not the actual building but it's the place the movie based it off of. It's really small, super busy and incredibly delicious!
After breakfast we went to the Honolulu Temple. It was closed for maintenance so we couldn't get very close and there was also a big wedding party there getting their pictures taken. The couple just got married in the Kona Temple and were taking pictures here for some reason...
The sister missionaries were giving out these flowers. They were so cute and smelled amazing!
After walking around the beautiful temple for awhile, Mike took us to a really pretty spot to look out at the ocean. The big hole in the rock supposedly got there from a tsunami...
Here's one view...
And this next one is directly behind us. Isn't that a crazy, big difference?!
After checking out this look out, we went to another one... Not sure what either one were called.

How would it be to live here?!
If you click on this picture to blow it up you can see a guy jumping off the rock. Pretty exciting!
This awesome little bug looked like a dark blue metallic ladybug. It was so cool! Josh is a wimp when it comes to bugs so I had to catch it and hold i for the picture. Ha ha! Sorry Edds.
As we were walking back to our car, Josh and I heard all this buzzing. We saw that huge swarm of insects and I asked Josh (a bit worried) if they were bees. He said, "No, they're just flies." So we quickly walked past/underneath them. After we got past them Josh says, "Yeah, so, those were bees." Little punk! Aren't these pictures so creepy! It was disgusting!
Next we went to Waimea Falls, also featured in Lost. :) It was like a million bucks to climb to the top to see the waterfall so we decided to pass. But we did see this cute peacock!
This little girl was obsessed with the peacock and wouldn't leave the poor thing alone. She kept touching it and chasing it and the peacock would FREAK out. The girl's dumb dad just sat there and let her torture it. We just sat there watching him laugh and couldn't believe what a jerk he was! There were also a bunch of boys throwing sticks at the peacocks that were in the trees. I couldn't believe it. I would NEVER let my child do that. It really was so ridiculous.
This is the best view we got of the falls. :)
We stopped by Turtle Bay, or something close (or possibly not so close) to that, so Josh could see more Sea Turtles!
One or two of those dark spots are turtles... Not sure which ones though! :)
After our beach stop we were off to get shaved ice!
We passed Eddie's favorite shop and lucky for him, it was super close to the place we were going for shaved ice! We went to Matsumoto, which apparently is THE place to go for shaved ice. It was soooooooo good! We got ice cream with ours and I could seriously eat one of those every day!
Mike's apartment complex was called Evergreen Terrace, and if you know Josh, you know how much he loves the Simpsons so we had to get a picture with the sign. The street the Simpsons live on is Evergreen Terrace, 742 Evergreen Terrace to be exact! He'd be so proud of me if he ever read this...
*DAY 4*
Sunday, we woke up, said our goodbyes and headed out to the Aloha Stadium Swap Meet.

We didn't buy too much... Josh got a knife, we got my nieces a rubber frog that sprays water when you put it in the bathtub, a sign for my mom and I got some earrings. Next we were going to go to Pearl Harbor but when we got there they told us the tickets to go and see the Arizona Memorial (I think...) were sold out already. Bummer. Since that's the main thing we wanted to see, we decided we'd just come back and see everything later.
Josh wanted a picture of Salt Lake Blvd so here it is!
We set off to find another CoCo Curry for Josh, it tooks us quite awhile but we eventually we found one and ate lunch there! Woo Hoo! Driving was really frustrating/confusing for us, hence Josh's face in this picture... A lot of times we felt like we were in a foreign country.
Josh was MUCH happier once we were sitting down ready to eat!
Doesn't it look delicious?! :) I LOVED their salad! They had the best dressings EVER! I even bought some to bring home! We got Josh's 2 favorite things and he basically ate both of them himself! I ate some rice and had a little bit of the curry sauce. I'm not quite the curry fan that Josh is. :) We had quite a bit of time to kill so we went to the mall and went shopping. The mall even had a Ross! Once we were done shopping, we headed back to the airport to go home. It was such a fun trip! Thanks for planning it my love!
